Making Wise Decisions

I had a unique dilemma this weekend. A few months ago, I signed up for the Coeur d’Alene half marathon to motivate myself to improve my fitness and return to running. However, as the days and weeks passed on, I was way too interested in getting out on the golf course to hit the treadmill or the trails.
Although I do walk while playing golf as much as I can, and have found it to be a wonderful way to get healthier while having fun, I knew I wasn’t prepared to take on the half-marathon challenge.
So I decided to make a #WiseGirl decision. I would pick up my race packet, get a good night's sleep, and see how the day unfolded. Also, since I’ve been struggling with a sore hip, I didn’t wanna agitate it. Not because of the pain, but because I want to get back out on the golf course.

When I woke up this morning, it was a beautiful day, and initially, I thought I would rest, sit in the hot tub, and hang out with my best Buddy. But after listening to a podcast sent by one of my golf friends (thanks Nancy Ras), I felt inspired to get outside and move. Not knowing my route. Only knowing I was going to explore my own community rather than making the drive, competing with traffic, fighting for a parking spot, and dealing with crowds.
What I discovered was magical!
As I listened to the podcast about being a creator of the future, I was nearly overwhelmed with inspiration. But I also made sure to focus on my experience in the present moment.
Paying attention to the sounds of nature, the beautiful scenery, and the funny irony always seem to find when I’m on a new adventure (like probably being the first person to find a golf ball while walking a 10k).

As always, I took pictures and videos to help me remember the lessons I learned throughout my journey. Thinking about the #WiseGirl philosophy - developing the ability to use knowledge and information in a practical way based on our experiences.
Wisdom can’t come from knowledge alone. And I believe it can’t be an independent journey.
One of the main reasons I wanted to start WiseGirl was to bring together a community of people who are willing to share their own journeys with mental and physical health to help educate, encourage, and empower future generations.
This is where real wisdom can be gained and expressed and new and exciting ways.
